    MATRIX is now a selectable scene (web) — matching the native app.

    In v0.4.0 the cinematic 5-layer matrix rain was only an fx overlay you toggled on top of another scene. v0.4.1 promotes it to a dedicated MATRIX scene: pure digital rain on black, bloomed + CRT-curved, coloured by the active preset. Select it from the scene picker, hotkey 6, or ?scene=matrix. The fx toggle (rain over any scene) still works.

    Web ↔ native feature parity, a cinematic matrix upgrade, and richer colours.

    Web build — now matches the native app

    • Analog-CRT pass — barrel curvature + bezel, RGB aperture grille, NTSC dot-crawl, warm halation.
    • Dynamic banking flight (CameraFly) on terrain / city / void, with an adjustable bank strength.
    • One-click Looks — Clean · Heavy CRT · Broken Terminal · Vaporwave · Matrix.
    • Cinematic 5-layer matrix rain, rendered in-monitor (bloomed + CRT-curved) — replaces the old flat overlay. Depth layers, glowing white heads, quadratic-fading trails, scattered glyph mutation. Toggle via the Matrix Look, the FX bar, or ?matrix=1.

    Native macOS app

    • Flat-HUD toggle — draw the HUD + terminal crisp and straight over the curved scene, instead of warped into it.
    • Richer preset colours — lower exposure + capped per-preset bloom, so saturated presets (phosphor, crimson, ember) keep their hue instead of blooming to white. Palettes unchanged; differentiation now close to the web.

    Kuro Screensaver v0.3.0 — native Metal screensaver app

    A real, live-rendered native macOS screensaver — a full rewrite of the engine in Metal, replacing the WebView/video approach.

    Highlights

    • Native standalone app (KuroScreensaver-native-app-macos.zip, notarized + stapled — opens cleanly on any Mac): borderless per-display, normal app lifecycle, live config preview, menu bar, auto-start-on-idle.
    • 6 scenes: terrain · city · rift · tunnel · void (3D flythroughs) + a static Matrix rain scene.
    • Dynamic banking flight — cinematic weaving camera, adjustable bank strength, always-level start.
    • Full retro-CRT suite: curvature, aperture grille, phosphor trails, bloom, NTSC, halation, scanlines, glitch + crash→reboot, day/night + weather.
    • Operator terminal narrative (the "soul"): the full INSTR-KARSEN mentor/ghostlink story in strip / full-width band / Apple-Lisa center-window layouts.
    • Looks presets, audio, CRT power-on + BIOS boot.

    Install (native app — recommended)

    Download KuroScreensaver-native-app-macos.zip, unzip, drag KuroMetalApp.app to /Applications, open. Enable auto-start-on-idle in its settings.

    Legacy artifacts (the original .saver, per-preset video .savers, Windows .scr, web build) are attached as before.

    Pre-rendered video screensavers — one .saver per color preset.

    Each is a seamless ~2.5 min loop of the Kuro engine with a diegetic CRT-crash at the loop point.

    ⚠️ First run — unsigned builds

    Unsigned (hobby project) → macOS Gatekeeper warns once. For a .saver, clear the quarantine in Terminal, then double-click → Install:
